Meet William Randolph
William Randolph is an author, entrepreneur, and lifelong basketball advocate who believes a child's circumstances should never define the limits of their dreams.
Through A Boy and His Ball, William introduces readers to Huey—not as a perfect kid with an easy path, but as a child who faces real challenges, finds something he loves, and keeps moving forward.
William created the Huey Series to tell a story that grows alongside its main character. Across six books, readers will follow Huey from childhood through middle school, high school, college, the professional level, and eventually into his life as a coach and mentor giving back to others.
Why I wrote Huey
I didn't want Huey to be a kid who had everything figured out.
I wanted him to have hard days. I wanted him to lose sometimes. I wanted him to struggle, make mistakes, work at something, and slowly get better.
Because that's real life.
Basketball gives Huey an outlet, but this story is bigger than basketball. It's about finding something that gives you hope when life gets difficult. It's about continuing when things don't go your way. And it's about allowing yourself to dream beyond what you can see right now.
If a child reads Huey's story and walks away believing they can keep going too, then this series is doing what I created it to do.

Giving back
Huey's journey doesn't end when he reaches his own dreams.
The complete series is designed to eventually bring him full circle—from a young boy who needed hope and guidance to a man who can provide those things for someone else.
That's an important part of his story.
Success isn't only about how far you make it.
It's also about what you do when you're in a position to reach back and help somebody else move forward.
